Run by 100% volunteers, the Greater Bucky Open, Inc. is a fundraiser golf outing and charity concert with proceeds benefiting the UW Health's American Family Children's Hospital and Bucky Badger student mascots. Our events are always held during the week of a home UW football weekend in the fall.
Thursday we host the GBO Family FunFest at the UW Health's American Family Children's Hospital. Bucky and volunteers play games with patients and families. We give away donated toys and bring general good cheer to the children.
Friday, we host the Greater Bucky Open golf outing. The golf outing itself is not your ordinary event as we have many prizes and contests for every range of golfer including trophies for worst shot of the day, shortest drive, best golf story, closest to the cow shots, and 1st place trophies for the top 3 teams. The outing ends with a buffet, awards, and a live and silent auction.
Friday night, we put on a GBO Charity Concert at Red Rock Saloon on campus featuring the Best of Madison awarded band, MADISON COUNTY! We also recruit celebrities to be bartenders, have free bull rides, and put on a few 50 50 raffles.
Saturday, we have a GBO Tailgate and head to the football game to cheer on the Badgers.
